Like so many before me, it took a tragic event in my life to discover a part of me I had no idea existed. My husband and best friend passed away from a yearlong battle with cancer in 2008. I went from a life of love, laughter, and family to feeling like I lost everything and everyone. To deal with the daily pain, I turned inward. I picked up my camera and macro lens my husband gave me and poured myself into photography. After work, on weekends, I photographed constantly. Photography took me to a place of discovery; I saw the beauty beyond the casual glance of a flower, leaf, or fern. It's there if you look, but you must open yourself to the possibilities. Isn't that true for everything? I rediscovered who I was, an artist passionate about life and making connections. I've taken thousands and thousands of images and deleted just as many, but I learned. I got better, and suddenly I discovered a purpose. I want to share the magic I see in the little things and bring the outside in. I want you to feel as if you are beside me while I create, and I want you to see the beauty through my eyes. It hasn't been easy, but I've grown and learned from each experience. I'm incredibly thankful for the lessons and the magic I've discovered.
